Travelling is one of the best things you can spend your money on. Some may disagree, but I look at travel as an investment in your close relationships and growth as an individual. While I would consider myself a routine-oriented person, doing the same routine nonstop gets old. I spend 8+ hours a day on my computer for work and an additional 2-3 hours a week writing Money Bags. I need a break from all these screens sometimes. The problem is, travelling isn’t always cheap.
I was once a recent college graduate, and your starting salary then usually doesn’t leave you with a lot to spend on vacations. That’s why you want to look for opportunities to travel cheaper while also getting to experience cool places. Thankfully, there is a season where prices are lower for lots of amazing destinations… Fall 🍁
In today’s newsletter:
Why is fall cheaper?

Off-Peak Prices: With summer vacations concluded and the holiday rush yet to begin, fall sits comfortably in the travel industry's shoulder season. Airlines, hotels, and attractions lower their rates to attract the remaining travelers.
Airfare: According to recent data from travel analytics, flights during the fall can be up to 15-25% cheaper than peak summer months. For instance, a round-trip ticket from New York to Paris might cost you around $800 in the summer but can drop to $600 or less in October.
Accommodation: Hotels often reduce their rates significantly. Popular destinations like Orlando or San Diego, hotel prices can decrease by 30% from their summer highs. This means a room that might cost $200 per night in July could be yours for $140 in November.
Package Deals: Travel agencies and tour operators bundle up some fantastic deals during the fall to fill up tours and packages that would otherwise go unsold. Look out for all-inclusive deals that might include meals, tours, and even some adventure sports at a fraction of the regular cost.
Less Crowded, More Local: Lower tourist numbers mean you're not just saving money; you're also gaining a more authentic experience. Local attractions, restaurants, and cultural sites are less crowded, allowing for a more personal interaction with the destination's culture.
Festivals and Events: Fall is ripe with unique festivals around the world, from Oktoberfest in Munich to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. These events can often be enjoyed without the peak-season surcharge, and they offer experiences that are both memorable and often less expensive than typical tourist activities.
Nature's Discounts: For nature lovers, national parks and outdoor attractions offer the double bonus of lower entrance fees or special fall passes, not to mention the natural spectacle of fall foliage which comes at no extra cost!
Here are the 5 great places to travel during the fall that offer significant savings compared to peak season:
1. Las Vegas, Nevada
Las Vegas becomes more affordable in the fall while still offering warm temperatures in the 80s during September and October.

Accommodation: The Rio Hotel & Casino offers nightly rates under $200 in the fall.
2. Cancún, Mexico
Visiting Cancún during the rainy season (August to October) can lead to substantial savings.
Flights: Round-trip fares to Cancún in fall range from $200-$300.
Accommodation: October rates at resorts like Krystal Cancun start around $200 per night.
3. New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans offers pleasant weather and lower humidity in the fall, with numerous events like the Beignet Fest and NOLAxNOLA concert series.

5. Cape Cod, Massachusetts

These destinations offer substantial savings during the fall season, allowing travelers to enjoy popular locations at a fraction of the peak season cost. And the best part? There are many more! Some good websites to find good travel deals include:
How can you take advantage?
Be Flexible with Dates: If you can travel in late October or November, you'll often find even better deals than early fall.
Use Price Alerts: Set up alerts for your desired destinations on travel booking platforms. This way, you'll be notified when prices drop.
Consider Alternative Destinations: Instead of Paris or Rome, think about Krakow or Porto. Less popular destinations can offer rich experiences at a lower cost.
Loyalty Programs: Use credit card points or miles accumulated over the year. Fall might be the perfect time to redeem them when cash prices are lower.
So, why wait for the crowds and the peak prices? Embrace the serene beauty and financial wisdom of fall travel. Pack your bags 💼, grab that pumpkin spice latte ☕, and set off on an adventure that you and your wallet will thank you for. Remember, travel isn't just about where you go, but also when you choose to go. Happy travels this fall!
